Final Project Proposal

 Alternate Proposal

I would like to take photos of many different people's legs from around the hip down doing daily activities or doing something they do regularly. I want to catch normal activities from a different angle. You are able to tell what they are doing but also since you don't have the other half of the body you have to imagine the rest. I think this gives the viewers a fun twist with the photos.

shot list- people running, dancing, biking, skateboarding, jumping, etc...

Proposal 1
I wanted to take photos of the UC campus and the area around it through a cutout paper UC logo. I want to capture what I think reminds me of UC and what being a UC student is all about. I'm trying to show people what UC is really like on campus as well as around it. I think it is interesting because everyone that attends UC is on different degree paths and has a different view on the school than everyone else.

Shot list- The stadium, the campus buildings, classrooms, dining areas, the gym, even the streets around campus such as the restaurants and the student housing.
The photos below are not taken at UC since I am home for easter but I wanted to give an idea of what they would look like.

Cartier-Bresson Image Critique

Image 1
USA. 1947. Cape Cod, Mass.
This photo stood out to be the moment I saw it. It reminded me of my own grandmother who passed away a few years ago. The very skinny arms with a tissue in her hand as well as that energy she puts off like she doesn't care how old she is she can do anything she wants with no help, screams my German Grandmother. The flag around her neck caught my eye next, it made me think during this time she was doing anything she could for America after the war. By wearing it she was showing her own strength and the strength of America.
With the photo being black and white, it takes the views back in time with it. Depicting an almost sad and hard time in history. The flag brings in different patterns and emblems that aren't anywhere else, this draws your eyes to it. I find I follow the length of the flag all the way to the ground almost like an elegant ball gown, but then I notice her beat-up dirty shoes on a wooden plank which brings you back to reality. Her action of pointing is drawing my attention to the far corner to see what she is pointing at but sadly we are unable to find out. It seems like the flag is the main focus as her face and arms are blurry. The emotion from this photo might seem sad and dark but all I feel is strength and power.  I think the photo is showing the strength of America through her. She looks old and fragile but determined that she can do anything.
